Hermosa Community Area briefly shares its North boundary with Irving Park Community Area along Belmont Ave (3200N) between Kildare Ave (4300W) and the West border of Kenton Ave (4600W). The eastern border, a common boundary to Avondale Community Area and Logan Square Community Area, from Kildare Ave, follows the Metra Milwaukee District North Line South to Fullerton Ave (2400N), a short jump to the East and Pulaski Rd (4000W), and South to Dickens Ave (2100N). Continuing East, the border rejoins the Metra Line southward to Armitage Ave (2000N) and Springfield Ave (3900W), then South on Springfield Ave to Cortland St (1900N), East to the Metra Line again, and South to the southern border at 1775N, shared with Humboldt Community Area.
