South Shore Community Area is located on Chicago's South-East side just South of Woodlawn Community Area and shares the Northern boundary of 67th St (6700S) from Kenwood Ave (1342E) East to Lake Michigan. The jagged western limit begins at 67th St & Kenwood Ave, South to 71st St (7100S) West to Kimbark Ave (1300E), South to 73rd St (7300S), West to the 1250E coordinate, then cuts diagonally to the South-West to meet up with 75th St and South Chicago Ave at 7500S and 1200E. From here, move SE down South Chicago Ave to 79th St and Stony Island Ave, approximately 1600E and 7900S and is a common border with Greater Grand Crossing Community Area and Avalon Park Community Area. The South edge heads East on 79th St from South Chicago Ave and Stony Island Ave to Cheltenham Pl (2980E). The remainder of the South boundary roughly follows Cheltenham Pl to Cheltenham Dr out to the lake and is common to South Chicago Community Area.
