"Dearborn Homes was constructed in 1950. Dearborn Homes was the first public housing development of its kind to employ the use of elevators. It set a precedent for the high-rise buildings that would become synonymous with the CHA. Dearborn Homes is currently operating as one of the CHA’s “relocation resources,” providing capacity for residents who have moved from other developments undergoing redevelopment or rehabilitation. Plans for the property’s future are currently under consideration."
