Erie provides individuals and families with access to services regardless of their ability to pay. | "I live right on the block and would happily waddle home in icy conditions to get another pedicure at fingers & toes. I always have a relaxing (to the point of sleep) experience. They are professional, nice, and not bothersome. My experiences at other spas include that damn foot razor (which is gross), pink everything, and a lot of loud chatter. This is not the case at fingers & toes. Best gift certificate gift I give out. Also, be sure to sign up for the email list if you like it here - they sent out a special called 'Winter Survival Package' which is pedi/mani for $45 til February." Review by: K M. |

Commercial Club Playground 1845 W Rice St
Chicago, IL 60622
312.742.7558
| "Concerns about the lack of playgrounds in congested parts of the city spurred the Commercial Club of Chicago to create a small park in the West Town neighborhood in 1903. A prominent and influential business organization, the club participated in various projects to improve and beautify the city, including sponsoring Daniel H. Burnham's seminal 1909 Plan of Chicago. For the playground project, club members donated $10,000, the largest gift for such an effort at the time. The park was named Lincoln Playground, for adjacent Wolcott Avenue, previously known as Lincoln Street. In 1906, the club donated the park to the City of Chicago, stipulating that it be named in honor of the Commercial Club, and that the name never be changed again." |

Happy Village 1059 N Wolcott Ave
Chicago, IL 60622

| "Ah one of the best hidden summer spots to hang out. The spacious beer garden has plenty of room to sit and chat over cans of Hamm's. There's a fountain pool and grassy patch to sit on and bask in the sun. Drinks are pretty cheap and the crowd is diverse. They have an art gallery attached to it with a ping pong table where you can select your CD's to play on the boom box. There is a Table Tennis tournament the first Sunday of the month." Leona's 1936 W Augusta Blvd
Chicago, IL 60622
773.292.4300
| "After 55 years, profit is not our God... it's the grade. We have no investors, no business loans, no franchisees and no one to answer to but our conscience and our customers. We refuse to serve the typical chain restaurant's immutable swill prepared with an eternal shelf life by commercial food scientists. We intend to embrace simple common sense in an effort to continually improve the healthfulness of our menu by demanding accountability from our suppliers and utilizing our state of the art central kitchen that prepares 81 honest, homemade foods from scratch with, at last count, 952 ingredients! Our Grandmother, Leona, would be proud... if not braggadocious!" |

Bob-San 1805 W Division St
Chicago, IL 60622

| "Located along the up and coming expanse of Wicker Park's West Division street, Bob-San offers a variety of authentic Japanese cuisine seven days a week for dinner. Only recently opening its doors in August 2000, Bob-San has already established a large following of young professionals favoring traditional Japanese fare in an upscale, and inviting environment. With attention to every dining detail and service that is second to none, patrons can expect a level of hospitality that reflects an exemplary Japanese tradition. While dining, undertones of classic and contemporary music are played just below the buzz of table conversations to create a mellow atmosphere." |
