The Ford City Neighborhood is immediately South of Belt Railway's Clearing Yard, "a massive double hump [train-yard] that is the largest and probably the busiest in the Chicago area" and shares its North border from approximately 6900 S Cicero Ave (4800W) to 7200 S Pulaski Rd (4000W). Pulaski Rd, the East boundary, and Cicero Ave, the West limit, both run parallel South to 7700S and Ford City Dr, the area's southern limit. Two of the most notable features of the area are Ford City Complex and Rainey Public Park, both of which reside in the southern most side of the neighborhood, as well as a vast majority of the residential community. The Complex is heavily focused on the local community offering child care and family services in conjunction with the City of Chicago, serving as a cooling center during severely hot days, and hosting the Mall Walkers program.
Single Family Homes in the area enjoy decent size lots and many homes have quite comfortably sized front and back yards as well as off-street parking. Many residents of Ford City have a long and intimate history with their neighborhood and, therefore, a decade's old resident is not difficult to come by. However, when homes do come on the market, they are usually condos. Statistics by Zip Code:
