The Goose Island Neighborhood is a Chicago landmark in, and of, itself. Centered on Division St, this neighborhood stretches from North Ave (1600N) South to Chicago Ave (800N) and West, from Larrabee St (600W) to the Kennedy Expy. Not only noted for encompassing the actual "Goose Island," this trendy Near North Side neighborhood also proudly bears Goose Isalnd Brewery. With this area's past so closely tied to industrialization, much of the actual island and surrounding area has remained an industrial stronghold in Chicago. ChicagoHistory.org and GapersBlock.com offer more detail on the rich and colorful history of this long-time Chicago Neighborhood.
Trendy is as trendy does and Goose Island residents quite thouroughly enjoy trendsetting. Nearby Bucktown and Wicker Park help to keep this area fresh and vibrant with a pronounced influx of 'international influence' in both retail and residential aspects here. One could surmise that residents of this neighborhood are 'commuter spoiled' with, not only access to the CTA Blue, Brown, and Red Lines, but convenient access to the Kennedy Expwy and numerous bus lines; in essence making this neighborhood arguably second, only to Downtown, by way of commutability.
