The Lakewood-Balmoral Neighborhood is part of Edgewater Community Area. This small subdivision is composed primarily of high rises, single family condos, apartments, and vintage homes. It is a neighborhood of "quiet residences," even though the Edgewater Neighborhood, itself, is noted as having the highest population density of all Chicago neighborhoods.
West Argyle Street, conveniently close by, is recognized as "Little Saigon." Along Argyle, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Southeast Asian influence is prominent. Almost too numerous to mention, "Little Saigon's" variety of restaurants and shops is sure to please anyone seeking venues to experience Far East culture. Real Estate in the Lakewood-Balmoral Neighborhood are privy to the prestige of Edgewater history. Originally part of the suburb of Lake View Township, Chicago annexed the township in 1889 under the stress of public service demands. With Chicago's ample resources 16 parks and beaches were established in the area. Statistics by Zip Code:
