The Riverdale Neighborhood enjoys the singular distinction of being the only Chicago Neighborhood that lies South of the Little Calumet River on the extreme South Side of the city. The West boundary, from the river, is Indiana Ave (200E); the South limit is 138th St (13800S) and the West edge is the train tracks along the 400E coordinate. Riverdale history goes as far back as the early 1800s and the Treaty of St. Louis.
As Riverdale endured cycles of economic ebb and flow throughout the Great Depression and WWII, some homes were lovingly maintained and others feel into disrepair. This left the area in a kind of 'hodgepodge' mix of Single Family Homes and Townhomes with ample opportunity in between.
