The Uptown Neighborhood, like many neighborhoods on Chicago's North-Side, has gone through many drastic swings and changes in its history. In the 1920’s it was home to dozens of the finest stores and entertainment venues in the city. Al Capone did much of his extracurricular "business" out of The Green Mill which is still open for Jazz today. The Uptown Theatre and The Riviera Theatre have also gone through recent renovations and once again host some of the best musical talent in the country. Because of these dynamics, Uptown Condos are highly sought after due to expectations of property values appreciating considerably in the future.

Uptown has many different "sub-neighborhoods" within its boundaries of Irving Park to Foster and the lake to Ashland Ave. Buena Park is between Irving and Montrose, Sheridan Park is west of Broadway to Clark, Margate Park is north of Lawrence to Foster. Montrose Beach is right on the shores of Lake Michigan running north to Lawrence. There are over 70 different nationalities and languages spoken in Uptown. It has been called the most diverse neighborhood in the United States.

Statistics by Zip Code:
  • In 60640, the median home price was $729,900 as of October 2007, which shows a difference of -0.01% in appreciation from the previous year.
The Uptown Neighborhood is proud to be the namesake of Uptown Community Area.
