Just near Midway Airport lies the West Elsdon Neighborhood. This neighborhood in bordered by rail lines on 3 sides and 59th St (5900S) on the South. The North and West borders follow the CTA Orange Line directly to Midway, while the East border follows the tracks along the 3600W coordinate (intermittently Central Park Ave). Several parks are in the area, as well, including Strohacker Park and Pasteur Park.

West Elsdon owes much of its growth to WWII, both during and after the conflict. During WWII, war-time industry brought factories and production to the area; while post-war soldiers returning to home settled in the area which spurred significant building of the area's trademark brick bungalows and two-flats.
