One of the several neighborhoods that are immediately adjacent to Midway Airport is the West Lawn Neighborhood. The North boundary is 59th St (5900S), on the West lies Cicero Ave (4800W), and the East limit is comprised of the train tracks along the 3600W coordinate and, intermittently, Central Park Ave. The South limit of the neighborhood is the train yards centered around 71st St (7100S) between Cicero Ave and Central Park Ave.

Post WWII is saddled with the population boom in Far South West Chicago, as many soldiers returning home settled in what was suburban Chicago at that time.

The most immediately available park in the area is West Lawn Park, while the expansive Marquette Park is conveniently close.
